what we offer what we offer
Corona Real Show Horses is a boutique Breeding and Training facility, specializing in Andalusians and Arabians. We carefully breed a select number of foals each year, and enhance the natural talent of the horses in our care with kind and thoughtful training.

We stand the Purebred Andalusian KA Tabasco (Santiago x Kahlua). This stallion has a royal pedigree, and is a proven sire of outstanding offspring. See the Stallions page for further information about this phenomenal horse!

Our beloved Purebred Arabian Rascal V (Huckleberry Bey x Rawar) was put to rest on 07/19/2010. This wonderful horse blessed us with his presence in our lives. We will remember him with love, and gratitude for the example that he set for us with such heart and such grace. Rest in Peace, friend. Rascal V‘s legacy can be seen in his offspring, some of which we offer for sale - see the For Sale page for additional information.

Chasing the White Horse Dream

I guess I was born loving horses. Until I was old enough to know the difference, anything with four legs was a horse- the sheep that wandered into our neighbor’s yard, the vegetable man’s donkey, our long-suffering Doberman, Eva, who, fitted with a harness of my design, pulled my little red wagon.

But as I grew older, it was the real thing that fascinated me and populated my dreams. My parents knew that riding lessons for Christmases and birthdays would always make me happy, and they humored me when they could afford it, hoping I think that I would eventually outgrow the obsession. Depending on where we were living as we followed my father in his career, I rode big rangy jumpers in Japan, sturdy little Arabians in Ethiopia, and in Costa Rica tough Andalusians that friends used as cow horses on their ranch.

When I was 15, I decided that I had waited long enough, and wanted- had to have- a horse of my own. I thought my grandfather back in the US would be the easiest to convince, and wrote him what I thought was a very impassioned letter that outlined why he should buy me a horse. Not just any horse. It had to be a white horse. My grandfather, knowing that for him to keep a horse- of any color- just for the rare occasions when we came to visit made no sense, broke it to me gently: he wrote back that the only white horse he could find was on a White Horse Whiskey bottle.

So it was back to riding borrowed horses when I got the chance, and continuing to dream. Real life took over as it usually does, and through college and marriage and raising children I pushed that white horse to the back of my mind. And so it was not until middle age that I finally decided it was time- and I started my search for the perfect white horse.

I found him in South Texas, a four-year-old Andalusian-Arabian cross, barely broke, but magical. I knew. No doubt. Here was the dream. And so I took him home. He is game to try anything new, afraid of nothing (although he sometimes pretends to be terrified, just to keep me on my toes); learns much too quickly and knows way too many English words; and has selective memory loss- we call it his ADD (Andalusian Deficit Disorder.) He has taught me, and has taken as much care of me as I have of him, and he will be with me till the end of our days.

And so it started, with just that one white horse. Now, with my partners, I have many horses, and we breed those lovely Arabians and Andalusians and their crosses. We don’t make a lot of money doing it, but what a ride it has been! They creep into your soul and tolerate your mistakes and trust you unconditionally. They are my dream come true.

Susan Cox is the "C" in CR Partners, LLC, also known as Corona Real Show Horses. She and LA Romans (the "R" in the business name) breed and train Andalusians and Arabians in Lee's Summit, MO. The white horse in the photos and in the story is multi-National Champion Lone Star Bravio

Leigh Anne Romans has had the horse bug since childhood. She became an assistant trainer at age 16, and while still in high school put together a business plan for a horse boarding facility. That plan was put on hold while she completed her undergraduate work at William Woods University.

Leigh Anne has had the opportunity to work with the late R.S. Palmer (Saddlebreds) and at Live Oak Arabians, and she has participated in clinics with some of the best saddle seat trainers in the country before finally starting her own training business in 2002.

In 2003 she dusted off that old business plan and became co-owner and manager of Showtime Equestrian Center in Lee’s Summit, MO, where she oversees the care of over 40 horses. She also continues to work as a professional trainer and has worked with many breeds of horses, with a special emphasis on Arabians & Andalusians. From starting young horses to fine tuning show horses in a variety disciplines including Halter, Performance and Driving, she has taken an impressive number of horses to Regional and National Championships.
